Business Details
We are led by Isabelle Carbonell, a Belgian-Uruguayan-American sci-fi documentary filmmaker and assistant professor of film at the American University of Paris. Our creative and research practice is grounded in a PhD in film from the University of California, Santa Cruz, combining rigorous academic training with innovative artistic production. Our work sits at the intersection of expanded documentary, environmental justice, and Anthropocene studies, with a dedicated focus on developing new visual and sonic methods for documentary filmmaking. We specialize in multispecies cinema, an approach that de-centers human perspectives to center non-human actors and ecosystems in environmental storytelling. All our creative output is imbued with a focus on the slow violence of environmental disaster, climate change, aquatic ecosystems, more-than-humans, and intergenerational futures. Our award-winning films and installation works have been presented at international museums, film festivals, and art galleries across Europe, North America, and Latin America.

We have received competitive creation and research support from the Mellon Foundation, Princess Grace Foundation, HKW/Max Planck Institute, Berkeley Human Rights Center, and Georgetown Environmental Initiative. Our feature film *A Mirror of the Cosmos* was an official selection at the 2025 International Ecological and Social Film Festival in Cannes, France, among other global festivals. We have been recognized with awards including the EELISA prize at the Another Way Film Festival and an Honorable Mention at the Biennal Internacional Dona i Cinema. We adhere to ethical, community-engaged documentary practices, prioritizing collaboration with the communities and ecosystems we depict in all our work. We are committed to delivering high-quality, impactful media that meets the needs of our cultural, environmental, and academic partners while advancing public conversation around climate justice.
