I trusted Beverly Boy Productions with a shoot of an educational video in Redmond, WA. I needed a DP out there so I didn't have to travel for a half-day shoot. I asked simply for a 4K Medium Wide shot (from the knees up) so that I could punch in and out occasionally - 3-4 point lighting of the presenter with a motionless background, What I got was a medium shot from waist up, with an active parking lot and street in the background.
The lighting had the key light at the presenter's left and below his waist. The nose shadow was under his right eye! The camera operator kept the camera running while he discussed things like teleprompter speed and phrasing, so no clue about shooting for the edit. No marking of good takes, I had to go through every moment of footage including entire clips where the talent just stood there and listened to the CO talk or waited for him to set up the gear.
In this kind of shot, the camera should be manual, there's no need for autofocus, yet there was focus seeking randomly wrecking takes that were never redone. When I called to explain the problems, I was told that Medium Wide was a relative term and that I was wrong to expect an industry-standard MW without providing a shot list (which I was never asked for).
A shot list? Seriously? There's one camera and one angle as described above. And most shot lists rely on industry standard terms anyway so how would that have helped? Their response to the lighting issue was that it was the best they could do given the room they were in. Not true, I could think of a number of ways to successfully light that scene including one with a single light and one reflector. Won't be using Beverly Boy Productions in the future. I need a DP I can trust to know the basics of cinematography.

Beverly Boy Productions is an excellent company for video production and to work for. The staff is friendly and care about what your goals are for the video footage. They offer friendly service and a personal touch. I know they have two locations one in Manhattan Beach, CA and the other in Miami, Florida. I have only used the services in Manhattan Beach, CA.
They have made several, excellent commercials and filmed several speakers. They filmed a few projects for me and they returned the edited footage back to me quickly and handled all of my advertising needs.
